Sustainability is the order of the day, and thus a central criterion in the purchase decision – also for hotel owners and chefs. Here, the "Grünes Band" award gives valuable guidance. It is awarded by the company Huss, the publishers of the trade journals "Gastronomie & Hotel" and "GV-Kompakt". In the 2016 competition, HOBART received the prize in the category "Ecology".
For HOBART, the 21st of February 2016 was a very successful day. During the day at the Intergastra exhibition in Stuttgart and in the evening in the nearby Park Hotel Messe Airport. During a festive gala, the representatives of the leading manufacturer of commercial dishwashers were awarded “Das Grüne Band”. The prize, offered by the Berlin-based publishing house Huss, is accorded for sustainable products, concepts, and solutions in six different categories. A jury of renowned experts of the industry and the chief editors of the two trade journals made a pre-selection. In a second step, the readers of the special supplement “Energie und Umwelt” with a print run of 32,000 copies were called upon to vote for their favourites.
Manfred Kohler and Stefan Festerling, who accepted the award for HOBART, were particularly pleased: “For us, ecology is a central topic because it affects all aspects of a machine: you need to have concepts in place for saving water, electricity, and cleaning agents. Our special thanks goes to the colleagues of our research and development department. They work with great commitment to turn our vision “Wash without water” into great ideas and practical solutions. This award motivates us to keep pursuing our goal.”
The award has been given primarily for the flight-type dishwashers PREMAX FTPi and PROFI FTNi. Both are equipped with twinLINE technology. It washes standard trays parallel to the regular warewashing operation. This reduces the consumption of fresh water, energy, detergent, and rinse aid. But this is not the end of HOBART’s self-commitment: With the climate protection programme CO2NSEQUENT, HOBART undertakes to further reduce energy consumption and the resulting CO2 emissions. Many years ago, HOBART Germany already felt the need to fully meet this responsibility and to ensure continuous improvement. To this end, they introduced a comprehensive environmental and energy management system.
