Offenburg – "HOBART helps": In the frame of this year's charity raffle of HOBART GmbH, the employees of the dishwasher manufacturers donate more than 3,000 Euros to the Freiburg Children's Cancer Aid Association. The management of the Offenburg-based company also contributed their share, topping up the amount to 3,600 Euros. For almost 40 years, the aid association has helped families of children fighting against cancer; it also promotes oncology research and supports the Freiburg University Children's Hospital in the purchase of state-of-the-art medical equipment.
"Each individual child's chance of recovery depends on many interrelated components. To improve this chance, research needs to be stepped up, medical and personal care improved and, above all, families who have to fear for their child's life need to be supported and cared for. All donations that we receive and all our efforts are therefore focused on our Parents' House and our association projects," says Claus Geppert, head of the office of the Freiburg Children's Cancer Aid Association. He adds: "For the ongoing operation of our Parents' House, we need 60,000 Euros per month, which are raised exclusively through donations. Thus, we are dependent on help, and we are very grateful for the support received from HOBART.
The Parents' House is located directly next to the Freiburg University Children's Hospital. It is the temporary home for parents of gravely ill children who sometimes have to stay for months in the Children's Hospital. But it offers more than accommodation: The team of the Parents' House looks after the afflicted families and provides support in all important questions. Each month, the Parents' House has around 1,600 to 2,000 overnight stays.
